Principal Celine Lee Shares Practical Strategies and Awards for Adult Classes

On September 27th, the Northern California Chinese School Association meticulously hosted an “Administrative Camp” exclusively for principals and administrators, providing abundant practical resources and a platform for exchange. Among the many engaging topics, Principal Celine Lee, former president of the Association and current principal of the Northern California Taiwanese Chinese Language Learning Center (TCML), was invited as a keynote speaker, becoming the focus of attention.

Principal Celine Lee, speaking on the theme “Adults Should Also Learn Chinese,” generously shared her years of accumulated practical experience in adult Chinese classes. She emphasized that adult learning is highly needs-driven, therefore, risk assessment and market demand analysis before starting a class are crucial; and high-quality teachers, tailored courses, and attractive activities are key to capturing students’ hearts and maintaining enrollment rates. During the sharing session, Principal Li generously shared her past mistakes and setbacks, offering a humorous and practical “avoidance guide” that delighted the attending principals and administrators. Many expressed their intention to immediately apply the knowledge upon returning to their schools, saving them from unnecessary detours.

Following the presentation, a heartwarming moment ensued. President Liao Xiujing of the Northern California Chinese School Association presented a bouquet of flowers to congratulate Principal Li Tingyi on receiving the “Best Contribution Award” at the 45th Northern California Confucius Ceremony. This prestigious honor not only represents the highest affirmation of Principal Li’s long-term dedication to Chinese language education and cultural heritage preservation but also earned her a standing ovation from all the overseas Chinese education colleagues present. The administrative camp concluded successfully with a warm afternoon tea exchange. Principal Li Tingyi’s insightful and engaging practical sharing not only infused the busy administrative team with innovative ideas and practical methods but also inspired schools to boldly explore new directions of diversified transformation based on traditional education.
